As a studio based in Guangzhou, China, we work with clients from all over the world, Europe, the Middle East, America, etc. Time zone differences have never been a problem for us. On the contrary, it’s been a benefit for both us and the clients. This article will tell you why.
What if we are in the same time zone?
If we are in the same time zone, the following could be how we work together:
- Day One. We both start working at 9:00 AM. By the end of the day, we finish our job and send you the first updates. You need to comment on them, but it’s time to get off work.
- Day Two. You continue working on the comments in the morning and probably manage to send them to us in the afternoon. We keep on working. But we may not be able to finish the next updates by the end of the day this time even if we work overtime. We are not able to make the most out of our working hours.
- Day Three. The second updates may come to you in the morning or afternoon if the workload is heavier. You may or may not have sufficient time to review the updates and send the comments. More of our working hours are wasted.
- Similar stories go on…
As you can tell, besides the shared off-hours. The progression has to stay paused for so long during working hours because we need to wait for comments. It’s not a good thing if the deadline is tight.
What if we are in different time zones?
The advantage of being in different time zones is that we have fewer shared off-hours. Let’s say you are in the US. We usually have a 12-hour time difference. Your 9:00 AM would be our 9:00 PM. The following could be how we work together.
- Day One. During your working hours, you prepare the project details and send them to us. At your 9:00 PM, we start working. The first updates are sent to you while you enjoy your dream.
- Day Two. By the time you get back to the office, the first updates already lie in your inbox. You grab a coffee and take your time to review the renders. While you are working on the comments, we are resting on the other side of the earth. You send us the comments and get off work. We get up and continue our work.
- The project is progressing non-stop.
Things are similar whether you are in Europe or the Middle East. Fewer shared off-hours allow us to make the most out of working hours on both sides.
Will communication be a problem?
The short answer is NO.
First, our project manager is reachable 24/7. You can call him/her at any time for urgent matters. For regular communication, you can always receive instant replies during our working hours. With modern means of communication, we can start a chat or set up an online conference easily.
PS: When we say “our working hours“, we mean ANY time apart from sleeping hours (23:00-7:00).
With that being said, communication won’t be a problem between us. Our ship shall go full steam ahead towards the right direction.
Wrapping Up
As you can see, we can benefit from the time zone differences. The work is easier for both of us, and the project progresses faster than normal. Would you like to give it a try? Don’t hesitate to contact us now!
